favorite SAK?

So, was there ever a Scientist with alox scales???

Don't think so....

Much as Alox is "desireable" - for me it wouldn't work - one would lose the corkscrew (therefore the mini jeweller's screwdriver) and the ballpen, Pin, toothpick and tweezers - so that's some 6 functions less than a standard Scientist - (personally I probably wouldn't even regard it as a "Scientist" without those functions......)

It is a toss up for me - Soldier, Farmer or Huntsmen. I have to admit that the small SAK like the Classic or Rambler sees a lot of use.

SwissChamp so far - I gave away all my other SAKs and keep this one on my belt all the time, even at home.

I have to say that the Victorinox Rambler is my favorite. Its basically a classic with a magnetic phillips screwdriver/bottle opener for a 4th blade. IMO the perfect front pocket knife.

Another Rambler fan here. I have a Soldier and a Farmer, but the Rambler goes everywhere and gets more use. The bottle opener works better for me than the one on the two Alox knives.

Since my earlier reply, I've switched my emphasis to my red Pioneer and black Executive. These two seem to be a good combination for me as a part of my regular EDC.

My combination are:
Mechanic -- coat pocket
Farmer -- pants pocket
Rambler -- always on my keychain

Runner-up's:
Super Tinker
Tinker

Deluxe Tinker. Along with a handful of others, its the "thinnest" (at 4 layers) to have both pliers and scissor.

this blue alox farmer:

sak favs-

mauser - i'm partial to the safari series. the mauser has more heft then the standard gaks too. The new GAK is nice also. that stays in my bugout kit.

my red alox pioneer harvester is steadily replacing my farmers. I use the hook more than the can opener. i EDC a red pioneer rancher in lieu of my standard pioneer too. I got turned onto them because of the first mate.

cybertool 34- the next step up from a deluxe tinkerer. easily handles 60% of all household tool needs.

A Stay Glow Classic for hiking mini stuff. How it is supposed get "charged" so it glows in the dark when it lives in a pocket or pack is beyond me.
Hmmm we need stay glow scales with a built in led. Then we can turn on the led and that can charge the scales! lol!
:D

Lately I've changed my EDC SAK setup. I still EDC a Vic Executive, but I've been EDCing a SwissChamp also for several months, instead of my smaller custom modded Vic that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I like having all the tools in the SwissChamp available.

Old smaller 3.25 inch "Tinker" with no ring

"SwissChamp"

Wenger "Esquire" (better scizzors than than the Vic. "Classic" (also 1/4 inch bigger)

"One-hand Trekker"

"Trekker" (AKA "Trailmaster") same as above w/o one-hand feature and w/o serrated blade

I love all the models, but these are the ones I USE. Enough said.

For about twenty years my favorite was the pioneer. I liked the soldier like ruggedness of it. But over the last couple of years I've turned more to the slimmer cellidor models like the tinker and smaller 84mm tinker. Refinment because of age? I don't know, but my taste in alot of things has changed in the past couple of years.

OHT and SwissChamp.I cant decide between the two,but of the 14 Sak's I have now,if I had to choose only two, those would be it.
