Grinder plans

Thanks Kevin, good info. I see what you are saying about just slotting the tracking block where it mounts to the arm, I was looking at that wondering about how to get rid of sloppy tolerance issue there.

if you can drill those hole perfectly, then in theory anyway, it shouldn't have any slop or misalignment. In practice however, making some short slotted holes can help cure all manner of ills in regards to alignment.

Here are some captures out of solid works. This is a modified eerf grinder. When I post the cad files, they include everything here except the tool arms. It will also have the tool rest. Let me know what you think.

Let me know if they don't work.

And here is what it looks like laid out on two 12"x 24" plates. Plates should be 1/2" if you intend to use this. just send the files to the waterjet guy, and you will get back what you see below. The holes to be tapped are undersized for that purpose. These have my mark on the main upright, the files I posted do NOT.

Good Afternoon, I see on the original thread the solidworks files are available?
The solid works files were just to see how it would look. They were a rough draft form. You just need the files in the link to get the grinder cut/ waterjet

Can you give the dim. where to drill holes for mounting the gas cylinder. Thanks for the plans.
I couldn't tell you really. I left that out so you can determine placement based on your particular shock. I positioned it so the ends were equal distance from the pivot.

Thanks Kevin. After all the work didn't want to put the hole in the wrong place. I purchased the shock you recommended.

Kevin, would you be willing to email me the solid works files you have. A friend of mine has solid works and owns a machine shop. We’re gonna make a few revisions for my preferences and if you have them in solid works that would be great. How can I send you my email?

Fellows, Kevin hasn't posted since the last post in this tread. I don't think I have had an email from him in a long time.

Hey all. Just checking in. If anyone needs anything, post here please. I updated the links the the files, since I keep getting share requests. Make sure you only click links on my original post. Ones that are in posts quoting the OP will not work. Thanks.

Sorry for the (very) late reply. If you still need them, send me your email.

Found this thread this weekend searching for grinder plans. I was one of the requests. Haha. Glad to see this is up to date and still available. Thanks for sharing your hard work with the community!
