Hawk and Knife Combos...

Just got this set in from Dwight Mclemore as a trade/gift. Cold Steel Natchez Bowie San Mai III and Emerson CQC-T. Ihope to get some woods time and practice time in with both of them soon.

By far, my favorite pairings

Have always loved that Emerson. Nice pic dogg!
Yeah it means something special since I trained woth him on that one and its his personal one from the Fighting Tomahawk videos. Same thing with the Natchez bowie. It was his personal knife. As soon as my hawk drift comes in I plan to forge out a hammer pole hawk and a new belt knife set.

Well with all these really nice hawks and knifes some one needs to bring things down a notch(or2 or3).

This combo set very recently came my way(it will be gone soon.)

I think its some sort of plastic handle and probably stainless steel. Has some age to it. I am thinking China before everything was made in china. No makers mark. No company wants to own it?

The only surprising part is I could actually cut myself with it.

For your viewing pleasure. :D

Snakebreaker, you asked forever ago how the Busse KZII chopped.

It does a pretty decent job.

In comparing it to a FBMLE, and a Basic 11 it chops harder. I convexed the edge, so that helps.

I think I could get a deeper bite with the FBMLE, but it was thinner behind the edge, and I did a shallow convex. But the FBMLE seemed to stick and bind a bit more often.

The KZII does not have handle drop, which would help wthe blade torque (as it does on the fusion handles, and on the KZ I handle.

The slave on the KZII are big, and I nees to hand sand them. The grip area is also large, which can make it hard to find a comfortable hand position.

Also, I don't really have any traditional Khukri to compare it to, performance wise. I have a CS magnum machete, and what I think might be a House of Khukri knife??? That does not have a traditional handle. It has a guard and a pretty fat handle without the traditional end swell.

garry3. Looks like the ones that came out of Japan. I have a Saber marked knife that looks very similar to your knife. John

Something simple, cheap and effective I hammered out for a buddies bug out bag. 28 oz Estwing framing hammer and a lg Nicholson file. Left completely rough and forge finished to save time since he didnt have much cash.

Nice Tracker dogg!

Thanks Snake breaker! This one was a lucky Ebay find ;). I have one other Tracker with the newer grind that I bought from Dave himself. It can be seen in The Gallery forum in my recently posted thread "Winkler, Becks and an RMJ". Dave is such a nice guy. I am really getting into the Winkler stuff now also....Rory
