It followed me home (Part 2)

I think the prerequisite for being a Hoosier is the identical sweeps top and bottom. They are always very pronounced and equal in the Hoosiers I've seen. They look most like a racing axe to me.
Mine measures 7"L x 6-5/8" bit.
Here's what it looks like.

I recently saw an incredible job on restoring an axe. I think I can do something similar with this one. Hoosiers are damn cool!

woah!!! that is an awesome axe!!!

They are! Ugh, your guys are so bad ass! Since we are pretty much listing off all of them we should pay homage to Colby’s on the likely original Walters handle.

Belknap was out of Louisville haveing Hoosier patterns made maybe popular in southern Indiana.Mostly hard wood around there I believe,it’s peculiar that patterns named for places so close together are so far apart that’s close to twice as wide as a Kentucky pattern.Would think Evansville would have made one.

Gotta celebrate 2020 with a couple new axes!

3² Brecks Victor came as is. Really a great axe!

2² True Temper Kelly Works Red Warrior (still red paint in the stamp!)
With a great old thick heavy leather sheath.

The sheath does marry well to the flint edge kelly works cruiser on The Adirondack

Very nice way to start the year. So educate me if you will. What is that on top of the Brecks Victor? Is that a wedge? Or just some type of cap.

I got a cool little selection of items today!

I have a matching Forest King rafting axe so that’s fun. And the 2016 best in the west favor is awesome. I ought to hang it.

You totally should hang it! I bet you will it's too tempting not to.

I know they've already answered your question but I have been needing a reason to show this one off. It came on the black raven I bought and I think is original.

And here's one for a double bit;

You have to leave a lot more room around the tongue when using these however. But they do work good! I've got several in use and I bet, because steel can't shrink, they'll outlast their wooden counterparts. But the bottom of the eye is what loosens first so it's kind of a moot point.

I've had this one for a few months and I've been neglectful not to post it earlier. This is a NOS True Temper claw hatchet that Old Axeman gifted to me. (He knows how I love the pattern).
Old Axeman bought 2 of these back in 1975 for working on a restoration for the bicentennial. He's still using one and figured that one will last him as long as he needs. He sent me his spare.

I love this pattern because it puts the most utility in a small package. You get a nice 1-3/4 lb. hatchet, a hard poll hammer plus a very functional nail puller.

Boy what a special gift! And a beautiful hatchet to boot. Simply gorgeous man!
I've really been wishing that I could be in on getting one of his axes. It really would mean a lot me. I'm afraid I'll miss out(that usually happens to me with these things) on getting the chance to own a little piece of Bernie history. :)To be gifted one! A total honor I'm sure!
Please, if at all possible, let me know when and where to go so I can try to get one? (You too oldaxeman if you are reading this);)

YJ, and everybody else that has shown an interest in owning one of my axes, etc. I now find that my current situation only allows me to sell using a consignment seller of some sort who will handle all the details for me. This will most likely be ebay, if I can find someone responsible and honest. I am sorry that I suggested I might be able to do it myself directly to the crew on this site. As the saying goes "The best laid plans of mice and men" This may not happen in Jan. as I thought, but I will let you know as soon as I know. I have it all gathered together, now I just have to write the descriptions and find the consignment seller. There is, what I think, some choice tools in this batch--my Black Raven, a NOS Beatty broad axe head I found in a old hardware store 50 yrs ago, some of the axes featured in "An Ax To Grind" manual and video, etc. I still plan that each tool will come with a signed, first edition of "An Ax To Grind" Thanks for your interest.

Yes, let us know when they go up on ebay!

I'm really really sorry that you have to sell, but I definitely understand and have been through similar situations myself.
