Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

Every time I look at this thread. I smile pretty big. Ken's picture shows what many of us already know.

His work is clean even in places people do not look or see.

Super Knife Ken-not my favorite shield, but it looks great on the knife. The bone is great, as are the bolsters. I wouldn't kick it out of my pocket!!!

Nice Jack, Ken. It'll knock 'em dead at the show!
Your Bone jigging/dye-ing skill sets are well honed.
Thanks for showing us the bolster detail work.

Your bone covers are the tops of all I've seen.Beautiful knife. The knives you make seem to walk right out of the old catalogs into the present.I think you have a time machine.

I have an acquaintance that is a custom jeweler/watchmaker. Recently I showed him a pick made by Ken Erickson and after a few days he told me it was just perfect for cracking the case backs off old watches. He asked if I could get him a few for Christmas presents to pass out to some of his friends. Well, I talked to Ken about it and he delivered these six beauties to me in Janesville this last month. Needless to say the watch maker was ecstatic with them. Hope you like them as well!

Clockwise from 12 o'clock:

Mammoth, Ivory, Bone, Reverse Side, Gold Lip and White Pearl

Sorry Ken, my picture taking ability is quite sub-standard. Folks, they are much nicer than this photo indicates!

Oh yeah, almost forgot: I picked this up from Ken at Janesville as well. If you think you have seen this before you have, sort of. Seems to be a thing about Janesville, Ken, me, and nice SBJs. I got an identical one to this a year ago at Janesville from Ken. This is a great pattern, very purposeful, and incredibly well constructed. Glad to have it Ken and thanks!

Charlie, it is Micarta. Like old ivory that has begun to yellow a bit. Not sure of its origin, if Ken sees this he has more info, I just cannot remember exactly. Color in picture is fairly accurate.

Here is one finished and shipped.

3 5/8 Wharncliffe trapper covered in Mastodon ivory.
CPM154
Flat grinds
Half-stops
Cap bolsters threaded along with integral bolster/frame

Lookin' good, Ken. I'm sure the new owner will love it. I sure enjoy mine.

Oh boy! Now that is just perfect! Someone is going to be extremely happy.
