Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

Nice knife, Ken.
I'd say you have tweaked the curves in the handle pattern to make them more graceful/subtle.
Beautiful!!

Cap bolsters threaded along with integral bolster/frame

My reading comprehension sometimes lags behind the evidence of my eyes-- in this case, the integrated bolsters I believed I was seeing, as confirmed by scrolling back up and re-reading the description. :o

Ken, you've once again chosen (and excellently fitted) cover material that sets off the clean lines of your design. Or is that the clean lines of this pattern (including the blade grinds, oh la) serve as the perfect frame to highlight the unique characteristics of the mastodon? All work together so well, including the shield.

So very nicely done.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments on the the WT.
I can not take credit for the great piece of mastodon. The owner had sent it to me along with some others.

I also wanted to wish everyone a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!

Ken has the originality down to a fine art. It's nice to be considered one of the best at what you do.

Here is one headed to its new home.

This is a EDC based on the WT frame above. John Lloyd had sent some very nicely aged natural linen Micarta a while back. I had a hard time capturing the true color on my monitor. I would call it more butterscotch/caramel in color.

I'm really glad this knife is coming my way. An EDC sum's the knife up perfectly. It will be put to good use:)

I've also really enjoyed reading through this thread over the past couple of evenings. As I said to Ken it made me realize that a healthy proportion of the knives that have really caught my eye over the past few years have been made by Ken. A true craftsman.

I'll post some pic's when it lands.

Nice clean-looking knife, Ken!
Someone will carry it with pride!!

Wow, that is the exact type of knife I would like to have in my pocket. Love the blade shape, handle shape, and size. Just sent you an email to see about getting myself one!

Thanks for the comments Charlie, Rob and Chris! Very much appreciated.

Chris, email responded to.

Ken,
your spear point slipjoint had quite an effect on me...I will try to explain why.
If I only read the specs of the knife, there's nothing that really catches my interest. A single spear blade is not my first choice, nor the second one, on a single bladed slipjoint. I usually don't like G10, nor the combination of black and blue...but then I see the picture of the knife open...and I do wish I had it in my pocket.
Not really sure I can give a decent explanation for this...but that knife is just awesome :)

Fausto,
I very much appreciate your candid comments concerning certain aspects of this knife. The thing that makes this knife work for me is the shape and proportions of the spear blade. I do not think it was possible to fit more blade into this frame than what I have.
