I am delighted to announce that our old Kumar Kami
is back at work at the Brigorkha factory. While back
he was working at our factory he made many
beautiful knives for HI. He eventually got tired
of making knives and moved to an Arab country
to get an easy job. He finally realized that he
couldn't earn the money like he did making
knives for HI.

Last month he visited with my father and said
he wanted to return to HI and make knives for
our clients. I was pleasantly surprised to discover
that our latest shipment from Nepal included knives
made by Kumar. His return and the skill he has when
he makes knives reminded me of the good old days.

Today I am offering you this knife made by our talented
Kami Kumar. His mark sign is a 6-pointed star. This is
a great opportunity for some of you who do not have a
knife made by Kumar to add one to your collections.

Let's all give a warm welcome to our Kami who has
returned to HI and will continue to make his wonderful
knives for us.

Excellent news! Great to hear he is back.

Must... resist... buying...

Good news, great knife.

Is this THE Kumar, as in the Kumar Kobra and Kumar Karda?

Not gonna lie, looked in my account to see if I had an extra $200 bucks.... sadly I'm a little short. Really like Kumars style.

Email sent.

I'm delighted that Kumar Kami is back. I don't have a Balance Khukuri and that's a fine looking scabbard, too.

Hope I'm not too late.

Added next day:

Got it!

From an old thread (09-27-2005), with some praise for Kumar's work:

Kumar does make, IMHO, some of the best feeling handles in the shop. Kumar has a way of making a blade that looks like it's been poured. Just curvy and graceful. -- Steely Gunz

Kumar is just great all around. He's an artist like Bura and puts out the finest in finish and overall shape dynamic... Bill always said Kumar's horn handles were better than anyones. -- munk

a lot of good looking steel from Nepal but few can match the grace and power of this knife

Welcome home, Kumar! :)

Great to hear! I am really looking forward to seeing and acquiring some of Kumar's legendary products!

Excellent!
Guys, you're in for a treat. Kumar is masterful. His villager was the knife that kicked off my decade+ love affair with HI knives. While it is rightfully argued that Bura was probably "best", Kumar's work just sang to me.

This balance model is picture proof. The man has an incredible finish on his edges.

I'm absolutely giddy with this news:)
Welcome back Kumar!

Wow Steely, you are right. I didn't notice it before with all the other beautiful things going on, but the finish on that edge is stunning!

That is a beautifully done knife! The drop and the thick edge, deep fullers, and black horn with the nicely spaced rivets. Great Job Kumar! Wish it was mine!
