Mods, Regrinds, Cerakote, and Sharpening

You do some really nice work and offer a great service! Sent an email thru your website regarding Cerakoting...look forward to getting some work done.

Josh - got a TFS Beast in today and it will be headed to you for sharpening at some point. The factory edge is a bit disappointing after using the Sebenza you sharpened for me. I want to carry it for a week or so first :D

Nice knife bud! Yeah man, make it nice and dull before you send it in :D

Getting to your email now. Thanks bud!

Hey Josh I was watching your YT videos and noticed you do some metal work as well? Would love to have one of my Ka Bars with a half guard instead of full would also love some jimping along the spine...something you could do? You should also have the 3 folders I sent you by Tuesday

Sure can 😊 send them my way when you get ready!

Is that Gerber Mk II a current production knife with 420HC? Would you give an assessment of that knife, especially in regards to edge-holding? I'm considering buying one and I might send it to you for a re-work. Thanks.

Wish I had more experience w/ it but I don't ... sorry Tizwin, I simply reground it and fixed the serrations. But if you are going for edge retention you may want to consider a different kind of knife since daggers are mainly designed for piercing, not slicing. Thanks for the great question though! Sorry I don't have more answers.

Thanks for the response. Your work looks really fine and you may be hearing from me about work on some of my collection.

So here is a before and after pic of a Schrade fixed blade that my customer tried to strip and wanted a satin finish. I reground it and fixed it up! Also squared up the spine as it was pretty messed up before.

Hey Josh its Bryan from Va. Love the work you did on my Otanashi and Ontario! My question now is I have 3 Kabars Id like to send this time unfortunately the edges have been kinda screwed up by bad sharpening. I would just be wanting a very keen working edge, non mirrored, all finished on the Wicked Edge at an angle I can touch up on my Sharpmaker or strops. BUT I would also want to Cerakote all 3 of them as well. Can I just sort the details and just go ahead and send them to you in a day or so? I do not mind the wait for the Cerakote. As long as they come back good Ill send more for the same treatments.

Want to also send my ZT0801 and full sized tanto tip Griptillian both for a full mirrored wicked edge. Dont need a regrind on them just whatever gives them a very keen sharpness that I can once again touch up on my strops or ultra find sharpmaker stones. The heaviest cutting they would see would be thick plastic zip ties and up to half inch hemp rope.

The Kabars are all serrated (partly)and again have bad/rough edges and poorly sharpened serrations from another "sharpening service" I sent them to. They are the Kabar D2 Extreme Fighter, the 1245 8+ inch tanto and the 5 and one half inch mini version of the 1245. email ReiseReise74@yahoo.com or hit me back here man.

Here ya go buddy ;)

I highly recommend these guy! I sent in my favorite folder after I made the mistake of having it sharpened at a gun show.
The turn around was about a week. They kept me constantly updated I was very happy with the end result.
This is was it looked like before I sent it in. You can see where the corners are rounded off.

Yeah man, looking forward to when the Cerakote is back as an option. You have a blade of mine right now, can't wait to get it back!

I have a spyderco Farid k2 I'm interested in possibly doing some customization on...would you be able to do some modifications to the ti scales to convert the k2 to tip up carry? Pretty sure it would require milling.

Yeah you probably would need someone w/ a mill or drill press that can drill and tap that screw... most machine shops could do it too. Sorry man I have not messed w/ that before so I will have to pass!

No worries, I sort of expect to get that response from at least a few people. It's a sort of weird project. Thanks anyways!

Liquid cooled grinding is the way to go! Blade doesn't even get warm... no damage of temper, even of the last few microns. Just wanted to post a pic up of what a typical knife looks like when regrinding or sharpening =)
