Old Friends Friday

I never noticed this thread, but by chance have slipped this old worker on my belt today for some serious outdoor dirty work. I've owned this knife since it was new some 40 odd years ago.

Funny how you grab things you know you can trust, when you really need them.

I've had this one since sometime in the 90s. We were living in Idaho at the time and I found it lying on the ground at a trailhead. Schrade USA SC505 "Scrimshaw" model dated 1989. It has a "Champion's Choice" brand etch on the clip blade (manufacturer of trace mineral salt blocks).

Definitely an Old Friend! :) Thanks for joining in, I hope you got your work done OK
I think I will carry this one today - the last remaining knife from my childhood:

Wow, that's a cool survivor Tom

What a cool little knife :)

Yet another belt knife!

I didn't get as many knives out into the yard yesterday as I'd intended. I took two broken mowers out of the shed, pushed the snowblower into the shed, and carried my good mower from the back of the garage up front to where the snow blower has been.
And got my conibear set over the woodchuck's shed access. The woodchuck appears to be using my shed as a latrine. Enough already.
I'm glad I didn't leave my good mower out there.

I don't think I've seen that one before Jer

Of course I haven't wanted to scuff up that pretty survival finish.
I think I got a deal on it some time ago because they were discontinuing the five-incher, which happens to be my favorite blade length.
LOL! 😁 Mine too, most of my life Jer, though I often carry sub-5" belt knives these days 👍

That's a cool one Jer :)
I got my wires crossed on that Camillus yellow pen's origins. It's the knife that appeared in an impossible place at the old house when I was clearing snow at two houses.
Though I still consider it to have come from Dad.

Back to 1976, with Wm Rogers "I Cut My Way". I think it was William; the etch has vanished.

Your William Rodgers Bowie is one of the Sheffield 'Town Patterns' Jer. I remember being given one just like it by Eggington's biggest customer, to whom I acted as a consultant. I said I was surprised that they weren't using the Wodtenholm IXL mark, being as Eggington owned it. He had a load made up, and accompanied them with an embellished Jim Bowie story I had told him. They sold like hot cakes, and over the past 30-odd years both he, and Eggington, have made a fortune out of them.

Unfortunately, my internet is still terrible, but hopefully I can post my Old Friend later 👍
