"Old Knives"

Thank you Charlie - I don't blame you for wearing such a fantastic piece- I have always liked that little fellow immensely!

Nice pair of Stockman Kev- two beauties- I too think that that Spiral is Camillus, although there was a comparison done with a non stamped "Spiral Punch" and a stamped Spiral Punch ( Camillus on their knives have this stamping on the Tang of the punch ) and it was thought there was a difference- I don't actually think so - there wasn't enough difference at all other than the spirals being slightly flatter on the face.
Man- when you look at those Stockman - both are actually very very nice knives! I would have lept on each my friend.

Thts a very nice collection of Pearl, I just don't know what it is with Pearl and me, I love looking at them, think they are absolutely fantastic- and own a few, but don't go out sourcing them? Why I simply don't know yet- as we change in Knife collecting will that change for me one day?

Nick - that's an outstanding Knife - Why I don't see these coming up in my ebay searches puzzles me!

Paul, gorgeous examples mate, just look at that TOP END Workmanship that's gone into those knives- actually some of the best no doubt!
Thanks for the kind words Duncan... I agree with you on the MOP knives, I don't actively look for them... but somehow they find me :D

And I got a bonus knife in "The Swap"... the lobster knife in the upper left corner of this pic is a Camillus "Sta-Sharp" SFO for Sears and is adding nicely to my growing MOP collection :)

Just incredible Kevin! I can't believe the disparity in the bolsters alone.

That example of pickbone is pretty amazing, Duncan. Best one I have, I think. I am hoping someone will post a Schrade Cut Texas Jack with a clip blade to compare.
"Pivot jig" is one of a few names I have seen. I don't know if Schrade had a name for it, or any of their jigs. A Jigging by any other name would . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . !:D

That little bone face is carved into a specific bone from an Elk vertebra. The Inuit expert thinks it is Coast Salish! The Coast Salish expert thinks it is Inuit!! Maybe it is from a blended family!!??
One of those sweet mysteries of a collectors life!!:)
BTW, that little spirit face was under my shirt for the whole Oregon Saga!! Trip and Show!!

Great knives Charlie. I especially appreciate the spirit face that accompanies so many of your posts. It is exquisite.

Kudos to many here for the last few pages of wonderful vintage knives...Charlie, Augie, Jeff, Paul, Nick, Duncan, Kevin, herder, Leghog, Lloyd and many others:thumbsup:

This old Schrade Cut Boy Scout arrived today. The main is quite short yet the pen is virtually untouched:cool: I love the bone, shield, bail and even the blades although the main is worn over the years. All in all, still a great knife to own, carry and use:thumbsup: The blades are rock solid with zero play:)

I like that one, and it is not an often seen pattern. Well done.

Here are two that I haven't posted before, both Challenge. Very different bone jigging and color between the two. Both have seen good use, including a patch for the broken scale on one. The second one is one of the very first antique slipjoints that I every acquired, and I was impressed enough with it (especially for the price I paid) that I immediately got serious about the antique slipjoint market.

Nice old Challenge knives, my first real antique knife is my Challenge harness jack. Probably 100 years old and still has a good positive snappy action that'd put a smile on your face. It sparked my interest in the old ones for sure:thumbsup:

Paul, that Schrade is a beauty, like Paul T said not often see and that Pic Bone is outstanding in every way- VERY nice Knife my friend! Thats an early one matey and just love that Pull smacking through the Tang's Shoulder there

Lambertiana- Both are simply Great old Knives- still today with all their use they are a delight to see!

Kind of a gent's Stockman, a little more substantial than a Pearl Pen, this Schrade Cut Co has stamps on all blades, and is likely 1920s or earlier*. Great Sunday piece at 3 1/2" - Happy Easter!!!

*(My scanner picks up a tan layer in the pearl on the mark side that is not visible to the naked eye!)
