Golf is great. I think there are more jokes about golf than any other sport.

I used to play golf. I was very good at it until I developed artheritis in my index finger.

Thanks Bob, Yes Baseball is good also, takes about half an hour to play one inning (snooze), Haven't checked out Curling yet;) But I have found Golf is great as a Sleep aid, about four shots into the Broadcast, and I am sleeping like a baby. Ever since I found the Golf Channel:eek:, I have been Ambient free:D

If there's no golf on the tube, you might wanna consider watching a Major League Baseball game, has the same kind of effect as golf. Then, of course, there could be a curling match on tube, too.
Dunno about anyone else but I happened to catch the Women's Curling during the Winter Olympics. Flexible callipygian gals...:D

I realize that it's un-melican, but I have absolutely zero interest in these team* sports where grossly overpaid spoiled crybabies whine about just about everything. I find golf more interesting. Yaaaawn.

I enjoy Knife or Death, but that's different.;)

*The same for individual sports like boxing, car racing etc. I guess I'm just not exited about vicarious thrills except for porn, of course. :p

What you are talking about is NFL, and I agree with you on that. College football is not like that...it's a chance for those kids to really showcase their skills on the field!

Personally, I don’t watch football any more, and i don't see how college football is that different from the pros. They have the same billion-dollar TV deals, and make many millions off of merchandise and sponsorships.

Like the pros, many college players are later discovered to be suffering from the progressive degenerative brain disease CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a disease that is known to diminish their life expectancy, while increasing their risk for depression and psychotic behavior.

The big difference being these kids place themselves at risk without the benefit of multi-million dollar contracts or long-term healthcare. I saw this first hand with an acquaintance of mine who suffered a devastating spinal injury as a tight end at Notre Dame.

I won’t even get in to the predatory culture that protects the likes of Jerry Sandusky, and many others…

While I appreciate the athleticism and skill of the players, and acknowledge there is definitely a good side to football as well. For me, it’s good qualities have been outweighed by the bad.

That said, I am a very big fan of both TommyGun56 and 91bravo.:thumbsup:

Is Nathan going to surprise himself by doing a limited run of CPK-whatevs 45 pattern, when he turns 45?

I’ll root for a 4.5 inch thinner stocked every day use bastid which will cut like a lightsaber!

Bowie knife ?

wiring remote buttons for a variable frequency drive in the new grinding area. Requires soldering a bunch of little wires on a PCB (pretty simple, though it makes me realize I can't focus as close up as I could the last time I did this) . Also required crawling under the work bench and soldering a bunch of little wires together before heat shrinking them. Good application for a little terminal block, but I'm super dumb.

...now my back hurts...

Also, the occupancy sensor that turns the lights on can't see me under the bench and turns the lights off. It was funny the first time it happened, but then became less so...

Random thought of the day: If people had been intended to perform soldering, we'd have been born with three hands.

It seems that you never really forget anything. The memory is buried in your brain cells until something triggers it.

In 1961 I worked for the phone company for about 5 months. New guy worked the mainframe. All we did was pull wire and solder them to terminals. I became very good at it, but there was one guy who couldn't solder to save his life. His name was Gervin and we started calling his cold solder connections gervies. Is that thought random enough? :D

BTW, I was canned after 5 1/2 months. My reviews were excellent, but I was prime draft bait.
