I'm pleased to report that Smokey's matted fur problems have significantly diminished after an increased brushing regimen. Not all the way there yet, as I have been allowing him to walk away when he gets overstimulated from it.

Before I left the shop, I found a frog hopping across the shop floor. I tried to catch him, but he managed to hop into a a pile of G10 and Micarta dust. Oh man, that is not good for frogs. So I managed to catch him and took him out to the yard and hosed him down (well water). Didn't get a pic, it all happened pretty quick, and I was already in "go home" mode.

Just like the frog from the other night this guy seemed to think it was smart to come into my shop and roll around in the dust.

Took care of him.

Then I let him go. I lost sight of where I dropped him but this general area. I’m naming him Waldo.

No you may not spend the night in my wood stove.

And here he is just before I let him go outside. I sure hope I didn’t break his leg. I was as gentle as I could be, but still. He did fly off though, chirping presumably in relief as he went up and away into the moony night sky.

I don’t think he likes me pointing the phone at him.

But he doesn’t quite know what to make of it.

And he gets bored soon enough.

And fills the time with other activities.

Road trip to Belleville today to deliver some knives. While I waited for my friend to return from the back his buddy Elvi kept me company and wanted to have a tug of war with me.

Baby Black Rat I found chilling in the shade. Its pattern looks more like a Gray Rat but I am on the Eastern edge of the Appalachians, so...it should not be??

A little Greenie today. It would not keep its head still.

Since I don't drive, my trip to Belleville was facilitate by my friend Fern who happens to be on vacation this week. Her sister came along for the ride as well. Fern just wanted gas money, but I felt I had to do a little better than that so breakfast at Denny's was on me for us, and since the two ladies are around mom's age, we had her along as well.

Then we stopped by Mom's place to see the kittens that mom's cat had just had. It was a good visit. I tried to get all five kittens in a few pics. I didn't manage to snap one of Blanchette, the kittymomma, but the last pic is us waving goodbye to Mom and Tuxedo as we pulled out of the parking space. Fun fact: this is mom's second cat named Tuxedo who also is the Tuxedo breed (which she didn't realize until after naming the first Tuxedo). The first one is actually the kittydaddy, but because he was spraying, she brough him back to the farm where she got him and got this little guy instead. But in a curious twist of serendipity it seems that Tuxedo The First immediately bonded with a little boy who also visited the farm shortly thereafter, who had been very sad at the recent loss of his dog. Neat how such things sometimes work out.
