I'm obsessing over the stockman pattern right now. I have never been a fan of case knives, I always thought they looked like "shiny metal toy knives", BUT when saw the 6347 SS Stockman at a local hardware store on sale I thought "What the heck, right, good luck finding a GEC stockman pattern right now anyways", so I bought one and I was so impressed I went back and bought another. I wasn't a fan of the amber bone so I decided to rit dye them and I think they turned out great. THESE ARE GREAT POCKET KNIVES! I have been using the heck out them. They came very sharp[ I soon realized that after being bit by the sheepsfoot blade and almost had to get stitches. New found respect, and now a new obsession starts.
I have enjoyed looking at this thread and I have learned alot, Thanks.

Great dye job on the covers Jeff. When CASE puts out a good knife, they're hard to beat for the money:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Jeff, that dye job came out perfectly! I passed on a couple of Case knives recently because I wasn't satisfied with the coloring on the bone from the factory. I will now have to reconsidering picking those knives up because of your results! Did you mix dyes or just create a strong concentration of red?

Wurrwulf - Thanks, I felt the same way as you, but I bought one just so I could play around with RIT liquid dyes. The first one I dyed was just using coco brown, and I poured in about 3/4 of the bottle, with just a little water to just cover up the knife. I then added some dish soap, and a little salt. I let the knife simmer about 30 min, took it out, rinsed off with hot water. then gave it a mineral oil bath for 15 min.
The second knife I mixed half and half with Scarlet Red and Coco Brown, I had to let it simmer for about an hour, I had to keep checking on it because it was pink, then salmon, then finally started to turn rust red brown. I am not sure why the second one took so long but I love them now, and the bone has taken a great translucent color. I will definitely be buying more to dye in the future. You can see in the pics above which one has more red in it. In the future I might try using just Red and Coco Brown.
