Swiss Army knife made in China?

Seriously, how many of you would buy a Chinese SAK choosing between a Swiss made and a Chinese made? Personally, I am happy to pay a little extra to get the better quality, I have seen Chinese-made SAK copies and they do not impress. Also, I would choose the Swiss made even if the Chinese was of equal quality simply because I like the image of the original SAK which a "made in China" product never can get.

You're absolutely right, skalman. One thing that is worth keeping in perspective is that this contract (IF it goes to someone besides Victorinox) represents a TINY fraction of the company's yearly output. The only real damage to the company will be from a symbolic/PR standpoint - and in the end they'll probably win there, because any publicity is good publicity and a public furor over the tender will keep Vic in the news. I just can't imagine that a Chinese firm is going to best Victorinox where it really counts, on the open market. They haven't even come close after all these years.
