The “Can’t leave anything alone” Thread

Hey! You've got something to post in this thread now too!;)

I am in 100% agreement with that statement.

It's one of my favorite combos, definitely. It's also the only Southard I baby; I don't want to scratch up the coating because I like the way it looks. I've used another Southard to pry up a nail in a pinch, but that black one on the right gets used gently so it can stay purdy. :)

I can't ever leave anything alone.

Here’s a RR swayback design I received from a friend. Super nice design, crying out for some filework.
Probably gonna do some work to the scales as well. I really enjoy this knife, and has been in my pocket since its arrival.

I forgot about about this excellent thread after posting several times here months ago, but got a couple likes for older posts today, came back over, and have caught up on what I've missed since. Glad to see it's still going and I've more more I can share.

It's maybe a stretch to consider Hinderer hardware changes as true mods coz they're just so easy, simply requiring $ and some spinning of drivers, but they're also what makes RHKs so cool as there's lots out there to individualize your knife at not great cost or effort. I bought what was my 2nd HalfTrack just before going in for hip replacement back in March of 2018 and ordered copper hardware for it before heading to the hospital. I got home after in good shape, though still woozy and drug addled, and my wife and son were very kind to continue finding and picking up all the little hardware pieces I kept fumbling to the floor while changing things out.

I really wanted copper clip screws to complete the look, which are generally unavailable, but our friend Whitty at USA Made Blade had a few plated ones left over from a previous project that he generously threw in.

I loved the shininess of the copper when first installed...

...but it looks pretty good with a bit of oxidation too.

Here's a pair that I really love, despite the fact that I just put them on the Exchange. I've always been a fan of black and orange knives, though I can't bear to scratch or otherwise scuff up their blades, so most of mine just sit. I'm also a big fan of Griptilians while being a big hater of their stock Noryl scales. I picked these two up separately and commissioned our friend Igorded to make me orange G10 scales in his Anso-like "random" pattern. He supplied blue anodized standoffs and I completed the transformation with black oxidized split-arrow clips.

I'll miss these two, but they sat for 3 years as drawer queens and it's time to move on to something I'll carry and use.

First full customization on my Zero Tolerance 0920. Love how it turned out.

-scales anodized a iridescent purple/gold color

-acid etch hamon line on the blade

-anodized clip same color as scales with a pattern

-acid etched the same pattern into the pivot head and Ti hardware
