The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Well, the 1st batch was gone really fast on our side of the pond.

Maroon, denim and canvas versions were sold within 20 minutes in that exactly order.

The black version was avaiable for another 20. I was late for the feast and had to grab that colorless and potentially boring one. 🙃

Hope it's worth the hassle.

The first batch will fly because of the special tool and non hex hardware, after that who knows! I will say the more I’ve looked at these Q95, I noticed the blade is a bit different from the previous Ursus NL I owned, it doesn’t have as much curve in the spine which I like. I also like the scales being full coverage since it’s a liner lock vs the frame lock.

I don’t doubt I’ll be owning one of these in the future so I can see how different it feels vs just looking at them. A few months ago I was able to pick up a Quantum Gen1 and for as much as I disliked the Ursus NL, the Quantum is a keeper, it’s so much more refined, makes the Ursus NL feel like a toy.

The price tag was also surprisingly compelling — all of a sudden Q95 became the most affordable model on the maker's website, even NeON Lite and plain Quantium are a bit more expensive.

There are some speculations about possible "exclusiveness" of micarta scales, based on the fact that the color variety matches RJM Soft/Denim Overkill collabs. If the micarta leftovers from RJM projects are gone, we may expect a typical range of colors/materials (G10 and Alutex) in further batches.

Congratulations! I'm arduously looking for one in a mint condition.

I noticed that they had the same colors as those collabs, probably another reason I’m coming around to wanting one, I love my maroon Soft Overkill!

I'm trying to confirm with Sako from Recon1 but I believe they only plan to have 5 of these in the wild which is a teensy-tiny number.

I wouldn't be surpised if you see some CarboTi models coming after the micarta scales

Just waiting for the supplies to come in, but tomorrow I will be attempting to remove the factory anodization from my CDX. Slightly nervous as it's the first time I've done anything like this, but we'll see how it goes. I'd much prefer the clean titanium to the slight gray-ish blue-ish it's carrying right now. One of my buddies has already done this to his own CDX and I love the final look he got - so we'll see if I'm able to replicate that.

I'm going to be doing a whink bath, and then possibly some soft wheel polishing using a dremel depending on what the finish looks like. If I'm not happy after that I might end up sending it off to someone to do a light blast - but we shall see! hopefully I'm happy straight out of the gate with the ano removed but that's part of the fun I suppose.

Figured a last shot with it's current look was only appropriate - and I'll be sure to get some after shots once completed.
