I’m confused by the hardware. The triangle shaped bits don’t match the tool and the Pac-Man side is just branding?

I just got the maroon variant and yeah that’s a bit strange, the tool is a hex head that fits that triangle so it’s only mating with 3 of the flat surfaces. I’m now wondering if future runs outside of this knife will have that same hardware and the first run simply got an included tool or if the triangle hardware will delineate this first run and later batches will be a true hex (which would be weird since the tool was made for it but wouldn’t be included).

The pac-man slot is still useable, there’s no “captive pivot” on these so it would be easier to keep it from spinning using a tool on both sides vs. having a flat sided barrel or faux slot like appears on my RMJ/Shiro Soft Overkill.

„Q95 is reinforced with a long titanium backspacer, which makes the knife feel monolithic in hand. It is smooth and flat, without any grooves on top. Instead, it features two long, sloping edges that extend down to the lanyard hole, which is matched by additional milling in liners.
Of course, you have already noticed the unusual milling (drive) on the pivot, body and clip screws. This milling is present on male screws of Q95, whereas the ones with our original Shirogorov slit on the presentation side are female screws. These innovative screws streamline maintenance tasks as they require only two hex bits — H3 and H4 — which are commonly found in a standard tool bit set.
Moreover, the first batch of Q95 knives comes with a twin-head hex key-bit that was designed especially for Q95.You can use it as a keychain or carry it on your existing keychain – it won't take up much room and can easily replace a full-size screwdriver. In the near future, we will release a separate video demonstrating how to disassemble our new Q95 model.

To summarize, Q95 can be easily disassembled using a basic tool. While some proficiency in disassembly is still required, the new type of screws simplifies the process, minimizing the risk of stripping the hex slots.“

NeOn has left and come back 2-3 times before over the years. This does look like the next iteration of that DNA, but its still a long way from a serial production release. I wouldn't worry too much just yet - and there's a lot of evolution between the full custom and what eventually trickles down to production with streamlined milling/etc.

Besides, it's possible NeOn "classic" moves into an Ursus line to give them a smaller offering, while Neonix takes over for the premium offerings. I think that's what I would do if I were in charge of the product lines anyway. Gives an option for folks who prefer the old style while continuing to expand their lineup in the Ursus line - but the flagship production models would still be cutting edge.

The NeOn Ultra lite was my first love with Shiro before I learned that I preferred "regular-sized" knives. Such a great knife, such incredible action. Truly iconic.
Thank you for your response. I was really hoping the NeOn Zero was going to get the upgrades some of the other model lines were getting (especially getting rid of the press-fit lock bar insert) so I could pick one up. Really nice to have a smaller blade for urban carry.
