TAH,

Sign me up.

My Pathfinder isn’t that old, 2016 or so. But I like it a lot. It truly is a great all purpose knife.

Vik, I remember you owning a Pathfinder from your excellent photos in the past. I was waiting until you commented in this thread to make it official. Welcome! :)

I want to join! I have a late 60's out in the truck. Fished out of the bay 4 or 5 years ago and sent back to Buck for a spa treatment. They did a superb job cleaning and sharpening it. Smoothed out the engraved previous owners name. (I'd like to personally thank him for NOT taking it to a grinder).

You're in, JBuck! Welcome! Let's bring that beauty out from hiding. :) Did it come with a sheath?

Thanks! I struggle with the whole picture thing, plus I'm at work supposed to be working.....But it's Friday! Yes, it came with the standard issue flap over sheath that really took a beating. I kept it but I carry it in one of those "Custom" leather pouch sheaths from the River. Fits nice and I usually carry that in my woods-rambling possibles bag. Huge fan of Buck knives, I have an accumulation of them. I do prefer the older, more vintage ones with the 440 steel.

That really shows off the sleek lines of the older grind/finishing. Nice knife. Preston

Preston, in your opinion, what year do you feel is the cut-off for the older sleek lines? I understand what you are saying, but haven't studied the Pathfinder's "evolution" enough to pin point a year/era.

Tom, it would be hard for me to say anything definite. I don't have that much knowledge of the 105, or 100 series in general. Just what I have read from various sources.

But, to try and answer your question...the one and two liners were made with and by hand. So it would make sense some would be 'sleeker' than others...making it hard to say what the cut off would be. As the 'machine age' crept in on the manufacturing process tolerances became tighter and the grind and edges more defined. I don't have the variety in 105s that I do in 118s. I see the changes as the early 118s progressed though the years. Maybe a 105 collector, calling Haebbie, will post pictures. If nobody shows up with 105 pics I'll post some 118s...if that's permitted, Mr. President:) Preston

118 photos in the Pathfinder Club?? Everybody run!! :D

Preston, I, too, see the change in the Pathfinder's appearance as time went on. The one and two liners are clearly more sleek, but even my three liner from 1975 is still fairly sleek compared to today's 105.

Or AAAAAbbbbucklife 301...You'd be at the top permanently....:D:D:D:p:p:p

Just messing with you...:D

I think 1948 should the date of the 105. After all, that's when the model was conceived regardless of what it was called....
