Thank you !! My first try at a holster. It’s for a sig 938 and yes it’s crazy the amount of edge work for a little holster lol. Also thought it would be so much easier to hand sew. Being it’s only two layers of leather. I’m use to to at least 6 layers of 10oz lol.

Wow those holsters look Great !!!!!!! Very very nice work :D

Dave,
I really like your rough out scabbards. Do you oil the outside?
Randy

Thanks. Good deal on the little Sig. Building a holster for a friend today for a P938, thats a coinkadink.

Howdy Randy. Yeah I do, I'll actually oil roughout a little heavier than smoothout.

Small world ;) I used a Cooks prepped gun mold. Using that I was able to surprise my friend with holster :D I’m still amazed at how much the leather gave to fit the mold in. I finished my stitching and dunked the holster about 12sec in warm tap water. I started thinking to myself , this is never going to fit lol. But I took my time and I’ll be darned it worked lol !!!

Practised leather skills lately. Made a bunch of pocket pouches for knives I have laying around that didn't have sheaths.

Ended up not so satisfied with the flat opening design so I eventually stopped doing them and modified the design a bit.

The ones with the flat opening are 6-3/4" high and the curved ones are 7" high. Leather is 'European' 6-7 oz from Tandy, no finish applied, only oiled with 100% neatsfoot oil.

Made a few that are stained, won't be doing any more soon.

Thanks for looking,

Ok this is a monster sheath I finished for a customer. He’s a great guy and we’ve spoken so much I consider him my friend. Amazing how how Knives along with Bladeforums can bring so many good people together. First and last pic are mine, the others provided by owner.
The knife is a CPK performance competition chopper !!!! It’s a beast !!! I forget exact specs but it’s not small lol. Sheath is hand stitched 1.2 tiger, sheath is over 1 1/2 inches thick at mouth. Made from multiple layers of W&C English bridle 10-12oz. It was designed in mind to be a show piece and not to be belt worn. The owner wanted some making marks and such for character, if I’m saying that correctly :)

Wow thats a monster! Great job!
Thank you ! :)

It was a crazy build lol. I wanted a sort of ledge at mouth. That the handle would rest on and not drag on belt loop. This pushed total thickness way up lol, I mean there’s a lot of leather there !! Per the customer he wanted the edge natural to see layers. So that was all burnished and treated with resolene. Was pretty nuts hand stitching it lol.

Wow! I have made a few sheaths with thick welts but this one puts me to shame. I can't imagine what you went through trying to hand stitch that thing. Very nice work.
Randy

Thank you :)
This is definitely my thickest sheath to date. And yes it was an absolute bear to stitch !!!!! Dang thing caused my elbow to flare up lol. After this one a machine is big on my radar lol. Would help greatly for other projects and I’ll keep monsters like this as a special request item.

Yeah even the specs on the Cobra 4 list 7/8" as max thickness it'll sew. Monsters gonna eat elbow more. Redesign?

been super busy recently leading up to Christmas so haven’t had a lot of time to do leather work. But I was still able to find some time to make a few things.

Made this the day before I left for Christmas got an email for a business card holder and wanted to see if I could get it done that night for her husband.

finally got around to remaking and making two pocket sheaths for two of my knives. Been putting it off for a while and finally had some time to get them made.

I participated in two secret Santa’s, one on this forum in a makers sub forum and one on another forum type board. So for the bladeforums one I made the guy a matching wallet and pocket sheath for one of his fixed blades he was gifted a couple years ago.

finally sold the top wallet and the guy wanted another one to go along with it so I made him up another one before getting it shipped out.

really really love this color combo that I did for a guy.

finally here is the other secret Santa gift. I made the guy a full kind of Every day carry set in his favorite color.
