What did you rehang today?

Be aware of pine, due to the bark and to resinous eyes it can be a harder oponent than dry oak or black lockust. Your axe looks better than the Gransfors, John Neemans or Council Tool Velvicuts I own or I have had in hand, take care of so a good tool.

To use it as a hammer you need two things, a hardened poll and thick eyewalls, due to the eyewalls your axe doesn't look like prepared to use it as a hammer. You can use it lightly but I don't recommend you to use harder than that.

Got around to re-hanging a Thrift store Craftsman's hatchet. Picked the Link handle up ACE
hardware ($6.00) . Lousy fit...really had to shave , overshot at the top. Will do better
next time. Very tight. Good steel...took a sharp edge. I wiped the handle with some
cherry stain & BLO. Should be usable.

I don't know what it is but a hung it. Phantom bevels and eye ridges with a stamp you can't read outlined Werth a rectangle border.

Not a pick but a punch. Used to set spikes before adzing over the top of them.

Thank you for that!
I can envision the adz swinging and taking off the spikes and how satisfying that must have been to achieve that stage in the work. Punching the spikes in would have been awesome too I bet.
I am wholly appreciating the single adz I have. I did take a few for fun swings on an oak log I have and found it to be a smooth and satisfying feeling to come in and hew with considerable control over material slicing into and away.

I got carried away and hung it before I put a file to the bit...maybe later today.

Grain orientation is about absolute opposite I want, however the price was right;)

COFFEE:eek:

"Wearing your goggles" with do the job.

Miller, I bet that thing does a decent job of splitting wood now and will do it easier when you sharpen it some. And yes, more coffee!

True the grain isn't prime, but your hang is.

Nice work

Someday, that will probably break. So? And the price was still right.

Seems to be about 12 hours later, I am back into my coffee...after dinner now and I am sipping and sitting thinking about taking a file to the bit and hammer of the maul.
This was going to be for a friend but...once I hang them, or expose the etch on a saw...I get attached.

A friend once asked my why I keep all the old bikes and tools...I said its because I am loyal to those that dont let me down;)

2 lbs gambles artisan, 6 eye ridges. This one seems harder then the rest of my axes. I made the 24” handle form a piece of cherry I had laying around. Will it hold up? I have my doubts, the limited tests I have done have been fine. I like the stright handle so far. I wanted something more useful then a hatchet but lighter and more portable then a boys axe.
