What did you rehang today?

You can never be certain how a gift will be received. But I think I know my friends and that they will appreciate it.

Turns out it was a Viking-themed wedding and they actually cut the cake with an axe! This would have been her idea! I think I did fine.

I love it! That's super cool. I especially like his blue Viking converse kicks...
I know a few people that would appreciate an axe as a gift. In fact I've given several away to very happy people! Lots of woodsmen and women in my family. Kind, healthy people!

I was thinking, that looks like a group of really cool humans.
Speaking of a group of cool people... Thanks for selling me that N.W.T.CO axe! It arrived today(a day early) and was just what i was hoping for. Except the ol homeowner deluxe, smash the axe head with a large hammer down on the handle, its perfect! Just got it hung. 34" White ash with a maple wedge.

I think tomorrow after work I'll do some better pics of this one and the Walters db. They deserve better pictures!

I didn’t rehang these “today”, but I just finished reading through this entire thread so I wanted to make a contribution. They are a 3# flint edge on 31” haft and 2.2# on a 27 1/4” haft. I don’t know that they are the original handles, but they are true to original. Good grain, especially on the cruiser, and full size bits with little wear and no pitting. I have swung them, but to be honest they mostly hang on the wall, I’m afraid to damage them, especially when I have so many others I can use for day to day work.

The 2.2. This one I rehung twice as I wasn’t happy with with the hang the first time. I ended up boiling the tongue of the handle and then clamping it to get it true before rehanging the second time. It was worth the trouble though, and I learned something along the way. Thanks for looking! Cheers

You've been a busy man, both in reading and in hanging axes.

Nice pair you've got there. I like that I can say that to a man without getting slapped!

Yes

Thanks Square_peg! It’s unfortunate when a compliment is taken the wrong way, lol

It was a pretty long read, but there was lots of good discussion and pics for people who appreciate this sort of thing!
Well worth the time, and motivating to improve your skills.

Here’s another I did over the weekend.
I estimate the head at 3lbs, made by Welland Vale here in Ontario. I don’t know the history behind it, but it has
C C C stamped beside the poll, and what looks like four small Ss on the poll itself. The handle is a 28” VB Swinger from the local hardware store which I attempted to octagonalize. I will definitely try it again with another handle, and hopefully do a better job. Not only do I like the way it looks and feels, but it’s a great way to do the thinning that these modern handles need anyway.
Thanks!

This is a 2lb Plumb Anchor logo head on a NOS 17.5" handle. It still needs a final edge put on. I received the head minus it's patina, I just went with it. I have $20 into this tool between the head and handle- which is high for me, but when I look at what I ended up with it still seems a bargain.

Not a rehang, just a refinish/clean up. The quality is obvious, but no marks that I can see. The very nice slim handle is 27". There is a weird little crack at the top on one side, but otherwise the axe is awesome. It looks like a real biter.
