I've been working on this chef's knife for my wife. It's around 12" over all. The blade is 15n20 and I attempted to do a full flat grind on it. It's a bit more convex feeling than 'flat' but it sure is sharp either way. The handle isn't really traditional but it's what my wife wanted - so that's what I made hah.

I'm still going to polish the steel and I'm currently waiting for the topcoat on the wood to dry and I'll buff that too. My wife is thrilled with it and I'm fairly happy with how it is coming out. BUT this is the knife that broke the camel's back for me - I NEED a better belt grinder. I've been using the HF 4"x36" and by god does that thing hold me back. I've modified it some which really made it better but it still kinda sucks haha.

Once it's finished I'll post another picture with my better camera.

Tough acts to follow people! I'm just finishing this up, refining the edge. Standing Bear Model 2. The first one was a trailing point. About 11"OAL in 5160, bevels at 1200 grit with chechem scales, .02" copper liner sandwiched between black fiber with copper pins. Sheath is lined with black felt like material.

it will be fun and pleasure to use it

Just finished a filleting knife made out of 15n20 at 0.0472'' thickness. Really fun project and I'm quite pleased with the result. All that's left is some clean up, a sheath and it will be up for grabs!

Like ! M390 ?

Baja M'ohican was the last piece. I do not believe I'll get it anymore
just does not justify the price ... Elmax 61HRC cryo
primarily field testing on animals (wild boar) comparing M390 61 hrc and Elmax 61hrc
Elmax showed better ... although the paper was M390 favorite ... real field did not show that ... surprise ;)
of course please do not make any conclusions ... it takes a lot of time for each
serious field work ... but for now my results are so o_O

Attempting a traditional puukko grind. Hindsight being 20/20, I think the tip maybe needed to be higher and the top line of the spine flatter to be truer to traditional look. Debating with myself if I try to flatten the spine a bit more before heat treat or leave well enough alone with where the tip is so that I don’t lose too much blade height. I of course tried this for the first time on my first successful san mai billet because why not find new ways to mess things up ;) Side benefit of san mai, you have a built in centerline for grinding

Dancing Crane - just finished this one up yesterday. .2" in 5160, about 10" OAL with a 3 scalloped spine. Bevels are at 2000 grit. Ironwood scales are finished to 1200 grit, with stainless pins. The scales have a story too: Been sitting in a box for 15+ years in an Arizona garage. Purchased at a (now defunct) Arizona Knife Collectors Assoc. event..... for $1.00 for both (price tag was still on them) and luckily I have several more like this and various woods. This has a near identical twin only without the file swipes between the scallops that I'll be finishing eventually.

Built a new forge, put it on a HF cart, made a weldless work rest for it, and wired up a PID today. Just waiting on the propane solenoid and omega TC
