This is also another "missing link" ; it's a 1960-63 8OT.
Note: the shield, that knife with that shield - was shown in a 1962-63 Schrade Flyer.

This is an other 8OT "missing link":
Very early match-strike, Black Dalrin, and a brass oval shield
.:

That is the same match strike, my first Bone 8OT had - that knife had been cleaned up some.

Wow, I had no clue there were so many enigmas and variations of the 8OT!!! I love this stuff!!!

I just picked a post '73 (I think) 881 off the big auction site that had a bolster engraved with a BSA shield. Never seen one of those but I haven't seen very much apparently.

isn't there also a difference in the number of points in the nail nick? varying from 17 to 15? and this is date driven also?

I read Larry303's post on the early 8OTs, and I have seen different looking match-strike pulls.
However, I have also seen the same pull on knives, with Bone and Dalrin handles.
After 50+ Years it is very hard to find someone that made them back then.
The only Schrades that can be dated, within a year or two - Is the Buck 301s Schrade made before 1966-70.
This is a 1966 Buck 301.

All of these Schrade made knives, can be dated.

Those are awesome Ken!!!! I have a 301 that was my Dad's (he tried one for about a month and then went back to Old Timers) but it's Camillus made.

I have about 15 of the Schrade 301s, that I had to locked away from my Son.
He likes the Camillus 301s, and thinks because I collect Schrade knives, he can help himself to my Small Buck Collection.
This is a 1967-69? Schrade. I found a box of six of these, still with the factory grease on the blades.. Ken

I had to beg on my knees to get the 1966 Schrade , with the grooved bolsters.

When my Dad passed away in 1984 I received his pocket knives. Did not anything about knives, stuck them in my night stand where they stayed until about two weeks ago. Found several knife forums and found out I have A Schrade 18OT, A Case 6207 and two Colonials. Here is my 18OT

I'd say your Dad was a bit of a knife aficionado. :)

Schrade NY 881 with a BSA insignia. "881" is stamped on back of the main.
