Ok I can see I’ve clearly upset some people here so I’m going to leave this topic and wish you all well in the rest of your day. I’ll still support Benchmade because their decision literally affects no one and they make IMO the best quality knives for the money. Just be sure to send plenty of “thoughts and prayers” to the “liberal cucks” who are actually trying to solve problems rather than profit from them.
You will be back. Guys like you can't resist spewing your bullshit.

With regard to donations, a quick read of the methodology section of 'opensecrets' will net you this block text with 2 key points:

1) Benchmade the company did not make any of the donations.
2) Even if they had, the donations shown are only for the local winners, which in Oregon is only democrats obviously. Any republican donations are hidden

"""""
METHODOLOGY: The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more. All donations were made during the 2018 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission. Figures for the current election cycle are based on data released on February 01, 2019.

This table lists candidates receiving money from this organization in 2017-2018. The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organizations' PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals may include subsidiaries and affiliates.

The first chart shows money given to congressional candidates. The second and third charts show contributions only to candidates who won election in November of the cycle displayed.

If you want to be upset about the guns being cut that's one thing, but on the political side at least read where your info is coming from and how it was created.

Translated: "Have a nice day you basket of deplorables that I am clearly superior to because people with my thought process are the only ones who possess the intelligence to give the correct type of shit and actually solve problems."

Well that was cute. I feel so much better now that I know my place in the world.

I've never understood the following that BM has/had. I've had a few of them. Not a one of them really knocked my hat in the creek.

If Benchmade was only paying these donations to avoid the “evil eye” of their state’s Dems that might be an even bigger issue in itself.

Benchmade might have been caught handing their lunch money to the bully, but we won’t know until they say something.

Dicks Sporting Goods did something similar and 2A folk and their families stopped patronizing their stores, about a year before they started closing dozens of stores. If you think a large group of people no longer buying your product doesn't hurt your bottom line youd be wrong, especially when you have investments and stock with sales expectations based on unmolested sales projections.

Well, let's look at the bright side. Now that they have alienated their customer base, they no longer need worry about collectors or high end users and are free to go out and produce the brand in China so they can sell it to their new market at Walmart for under $30 a pop.

A $30 axis lock in 3cr13....how bad could it be? :(

So using your methodology, looking at the numbers makes Benchmade a liberal company from “head to toe”, so to speak.

Wrong.
Oregon law says differently.
The guns could have been resold as per Oregon State law.
The OCPD wanted them destroyed, not a court
Some of the guns were possibly in a operable enough condition to be resold but some were probably not. When I was in law enforcement some of the guns we confiscated from criminals had the serial numbers removed and some had been converted to full auto from semi. Guns in those kinds of conditions were not able to be resold. The guns that were able to be resold were turned over to the state police to be auctioned off and the proceeds were disrupted out to small departments who had equipment budget issues.

This is the methodology of opensecrets.com where people have been getting the info from.

And no, since it only shows the winners and only dems won in oregon it shows no donations to repubs. The number to republicans could have been higher or lower, that site just doesnt show them.

Do you know what a straw man argument is? Just curious.
Indeed I do, appearing to address a similar argument, when in fact the comparison you chose is not similar, such as this one:
"Although unpopular with the mob, destroying firearms is not necessarily anti-gun.

For example, manufacturer FFLs often destroy firearms that don’t meet quality control standards. Clearly, firearm manufacturers aren’t anti-gun."

That, in the above statement, is a clear example of a straw man argument, in that "gun manufacturers destroy firearms all the time" is not comparable to "non-firearms related companies chop firearms up to help local LE take firearms out of the hands of citizens". Is that what you are looking for? Jackass?

What so many people miss is that this incident of them destroying guns isn't the main problem. The main problem is that they support politicians who want to disarm citizens and remove their right to protect their family and selves in public. It starts with firearms and goes to knives and when it's all said and done, you need a reason to even have a knife... freedom isn't a reason.

Look at our own restrictive cities and states and see how they treat knife owners after they ban guns...

One leads to the other which ultimately leads to the citizen being disarmed and ruled by a government that kept all the firearms for themselves. Citizens disagreeing with what the politicians decide? Good luck throwing rocks.
Exactly I couldn't have said it better! The democrats have been trying to disarm us for years then they can finally get full communist control. There calling their self socialist right now. Hitler started out as a socialist too.

Here in GA, we remove the inoperable/damaged receiver and sell the parts. Money goes to the local LE. to buy equipment.

Benchmade and OCPD worked together and thought the photo of then chopping guns would be a good publicity stunt, and it backfired.
Even made sure the employee was wearing BM gear.

They made the choice.
Now they get to see the consequences of alienating your customer base.

On a lighter note, Kerahaw saw an opportunity and took it.
;)

Statists want you disarmed and powerless. It might start with guns, but it never stops there. It actually has nothing to do with the tool they want to prohibit, they want to destroy the very concept of self-defense and self-preservation. That is what the owners of Benchmade use your money to support.

The Law of Unintended Consequences has shown BM to be in bed with Demoncrats and that's all I need to know.
