Custom GSO Handles - WIP thread

Just a WIP picture of the sheath I'm having made for the 2.7. It is a pocket style, slip sheath, with a little "scout influence". It has a narrowed section so I can wrap a couple layers of paracord. He still has to stitch it and do the wet-forming, but I love how it's coming along.

I'm drooling like Chiral. Can you share who your sheath guy is either publicly or through PM? If not that's ok too, you just got me curious. I've spent my whole life keeping it on the straight and narrow with kydex and nylon, but between this thread and Sagewood models, I'm getting the urge to dabble with some leather on the weekends.

Looking great

If they look this good at this point in the process I can't wait to see what they'll look like when finished!

Here is the finished project. It is hard to describe how lively this material is. The grain takes on completely different shading and waviness from different angles. It's almost impossible to photograph to convey how much it moves and ripples. Koa is my absolute favorite.

Tony's work was not only really really good to start with and quite clever with it came to his design and engineering background (cuing the Necker-Folder), but his work is now getting more exquisite as he gets more experienced with this hobby. Very well done Sir

OT: I have also had the pleasure of communicating with Tony privately regarding some of our common interests when it comes to other folders and he's nothing but a class act and wealth of info which is more than willing to share. A very great stand up forumite as well as very talented one as already alluded to above.

Wow - thank you, Casinostocks Casinostocks I very much appreciate this community, and have made some genuine friendships here. My knife hobby is probably different from a lot of you guys. I don't use my knives nearly as hard or as often as you guys. I don't pick knives necessarily for the same reasons - for performance and steels that will take all sorts of varied conditions. I choose knives that support my woodworking hobby. (Folders being a different story). I came upon S!K and now CPK specifically looking for the "1911" of knives. Timeless, classic, hard use designs. Significant, loyal following. And importantly - interchangeable grips!

But what I've found here is a group of enthusiasts that are just fantastic to be around. I appreciate that you all let me indulge my hobby and show off a bit. More significantly, many of you have sought out my work, and I can't tell you how much fun it is to seem my work displayed on your knives.

(Again - NOT a solicitation for work here).

Thanks to everyone for letting me hang out. I find it is just as important to contribute to this community as to any that I am a member of. I'm glad you guys appreciate my little contribution to the knife world.

I am waiting on my last S!K to come back to me. Until then, my next projects will be posted over in the CPK sub forum...

thank you rcb2000 rcb2000 , Silver Needle Silver Needle N NXPRSS and Hard Knocks Hard Knocks

This thing pockets really well and even with the paracord is nice and thin. Hides out in my cargo pants pocket, easy as it gets.

My other post seems a little weak compared to what ideas trying to get across. The unfinished sheath looked great, but the finished one really is amazing.

I hold Sagewood in very high regard, especially when it comes to GSOs, but your pocket sheath really is a beauty :thumbsup:

So, I sent off my old-spec GSO 4.1 last year for a custom regrind and I can't tell you how excited I am to be getting this back! I am of course going to fully pimp it out with handles and I have some custom leather for it. I just couldn't wait to let you guys in on this....

More details to come. This is just a picture he sent me via instagram.
