Just for fun I did a fast and dirty check of available-online Westinghouse electrical service documentation from the mid-60s and I saw micarta mentioned four times as a preferred insulating material in Westinghouse breakers and *melamine mentioned once as an outer material in a large fuse. If you can get me a serial number or some sort of ID on the switchgear, I will write the archivist at the Westinghouse Collection at the Heinz History Center and see if I can get the documentation for the unit to determine the identity of the Westinghouse material.

I agree!...what a great design; what a great knife. It has quickly become my favorite EDC, and since I work from home it's on my belt every day. I have an HDFK, a UF, and the FK2--with a DEK1 on pre-order. I am a fortunate man to live in a time when knives like these are within my reach. Thanks CPK!

Westinghouse vs African black wood just cause? I have 5 fk2 right now and couldn't be persuaded to give up one. Only version I didn't end up with was the HT with a swedge. Kicking myself....

It’s identical to my HDFK sheath in other pics, just scaled down. Perhaps you’ve happen to see those pics along the way.

Sorry about the delay brother. Life hits hard when it hits. No coating at all. I'm pretty sure the cpk crew fully buffed and coated the African blackwood prior to me touching it. Both still look great. Granted I've been a bit out of the mix this year.
