Heck, in the city I grew up in, during it's lumber hayday (it was 'the lumber capitol of the world' from c.1840 to c.1920) they had 68 drinking establishments ... in one block.drinking establishments any corner...
Good to hear the Forum knife finally got there Will. Cool review too, I especially appreciate your "Final Test".A aji1 My tracking says it's STILL in the USPS system as of 18th Dec
But you know what? Got it right in my hand now, so much for tracking truth
Too dark for pictures as I only collected it around 18.00 but here's a few thoughts.
STAGGERED!! It's a brilliant example and I'm really pleased with it so let's run through the PROS
Impressive the way the thin slabs are hafted, the integral bolster is a really good feature. Very nice Elk slabs both Mark & Pile, they are different from each other but both attractive cream colour. One smoother the other very gnarled. Arrived very sharp too, shaves arm hair with ease so that's OK for me (not my balding arms though...) Sheepfoot rides satisfyingly low, good snap on both blades even before cleaning them out, very pleasant pull too. No blade play at allSprings are flush on both blades open/close that's very important to me as I keep my thumb on top of the springs when using & any sunk/raised stuff appalls me. Great steel and a remarkable knife for 71 USD don't think I could find anything with materials & specs like it at that price! No blade rub, pins are domed and feel right on the scales, sink hole anyone? No thanks
It's going to be durable and an attractive user for gardening, walks, woodland trips, probably OK as a fish knife being grippy and all stainless, good food prep tool too.
CONS? Well not really, the back is a bit gappy but this does not detract from the smooth feel of the knife. I think it MIGHT be better in the smaller 303 frame but we voted otherwise but that's something for Buck to think about if they were to offer Custom Shop in this configuration it would make a fine small gents knife too. Possibly I might've not had the long pull on the Sheepfoot, but it can go either way.
Final test is simple: would I get horrified if I lost it? YES. Will I use it? YES! Would I give it away? No. Would I sell it? No, unless starvingMy sincere thanks to @skblades for getting it all together and for his extreme patience and tact. Round of applause to Buck workers and to ourselves for being bold enough to chose something different and yet ours

Pix aren't a lot of good due to time pressure and winter light (sunny today!) but I hope they give some idea of the nice contrast between the two sides. What no picture can show is of course the fine action of the knife, really pleased.
