Another couple of pics from my hike yesterday

Jack, you're not using that lovely stag HHB to help you create crop circles, are you?
While I suspect the “meat lozenges” in question here more closely resembled pemmican than the food described below, this 15th century recipe I found while Googling was too good not to share:
Lesynges de chare. Take fair buttys of porke; hewe them, & grind them, & caste thereto raw yolks of eggs, & then put it in-to a fair vesselle; & take roysonys of corauns, & dates myncyd, & powder of ginger, pepper, & saffron, & sugar, an melle all thes to-gederys; & make fair paste of sugar & saffron, & salt; temper ther-in, & make ii fair flat cakys ther-of, & lay the stuf ther-on al a-brode on the cake al flat; & than take that other cake, & lay him al a-brode ther-on; & than kytte the cakys thorw with an knyf in maner of lesyngys; & than make fair bature of raw yolks of eggs, sugar, & salt, & close the sydys of the lesyng ther-with, & than fry them in fair grease, & serve forth.
Yum!
Amazing how much spelling has changed!
John and Mark, thanks for these interesting shots of your stag HHBs. Both knives appear to have a little more thickness or "swell" in the pile side stag, and I've discovered that I really like the way that makes a stag knife feel in my hand.
Well, I missed out on Charlie's great Lambsfoot SFO. What's a guy to do? I went out and found this Venture online. It was quite the jalopy, broken covers, sprung spring, etc. I put some nice NOS bone on it, and it's quite serviceable now.

Splendid solution, Glenn!
But the way you describe what you did so simply and nonchalantly reminded me of that old Dire Straits song about things not being as easy as they look:
That ain't workin', that's the way you do it!
Money for nothin', and your lambsfoots for free!
Glad you can see that, wasn't sure it come out in the photo.
What an epic post, Gary...don't know how you got all those quotes in there. BF tells me that I'm over the limit of 10,000 characters frequently. You must have a magic over-ride key!
...
Preston, you'll probably notice that I'll often post two consecutive multi quote messages. That's the result of getting the 10K character limit error and having to split my original single too-long post into two parts. I wish there was a magic over-ride key though!
...
Too bad your picture doesn't show in my quote. It is an excellent picture of your Lamb. The grains of the two woods kind of run together and the shadows makes everything kind of blend. It's a well captured photo, GT.
Thanks, John.
That's one of my favorite pics of my rosewood lambsfoot, mainly because it makes the knife look so different from all the other pics. The wood seems darker, richer, "moister" than it appears in other photos (and I have no idea how I made it happen
).

World champion knives on a World Championship Sunday!
Thanks Gary! I could understand how you could have been happy either way if you have ancestral ties to the Netherlands!
Union Jack is a great example of the Rosewood model! A great EDC Lambsfoot!
...
Thanks for the kind words, Ron.
Now that my wife and I are getting settled in we took a short road trip around the area. I took advantage of a fence post to show off my Rosewood Barlow.

... I ended up with Rosewood in my pocket
...
Incredible detail into the grain of your rosewood Hartshead lambsfoot Barlows, Dave & Jack & Dwight!
...
I try to be Harvey, I think everyone has to be treated equally here, even if new posters have more of an excuse
I am grateful that we now seem to be getting back on track, but am not pleased to have had my day occupied in the way it has been
...
You are the Master of the Multi-Quote GT!
You should see Stan's arms!
Nice to see the return of your Union Jack
...
Jack, I hope your week improves from a less-than-auspicious beginning.
I appreciate your comments about my posts and Union Jack.
...
I took this picture of Li'l Sambar, who was getting jealous of HB's pocket time.
That Li'l Sambar is a real treat, Rachel!
I used my lamb foot and a few simple tools to build these driftwood chairs this weekend!
...
Not really.
I totally believed you, Barry, mainly because I was so impressed a couple of years ago when you showed something you whittled while on a fishing trip.
I don't even remember what it was (a cowboy, maybe?), only that I thought you had abundant talent! I figured you could build a set of driftwood chairs if you could get a free weekend!
Say, GT and r8shell, do you know what LamBar Jack said when he fell from the tree?
"Look out Barlooooooow!"
I don't have any puns about mine, but I bet Rosewood.
Berries aren't ripe yet, Greg, but your RWLFHHB sure is looking sweet!
I've been scouring the internet to find a good-condition copy of
Lambsfoot Jokes for Dummies, but now I can relax and just PM Greg - he's got a million of 'em!
...
Thanks, GT. As you could probably tell, that rosewood HHB has been my go to since it arrived. Something about the HHB just screams to be worked hard.
...
Very cool, FBC.
Are you going to post that lambish album in the LP thread?
Congratulations OG, I can't believe how glossy that ebony is
Great pic
...
I've also been stunned by the color and sheen of the Waynorth lambsfoot ebony!
Haven't I previously seen discussions on The Porch that deeply-black ebony was almost impossible to find now, or was perhaps a different species being discussed?
Yay! My Hartshead Barlow came today!
Huge thanks to Jack!
Thank you Charlie. Here’s the also great pile side.
Congrats, Dave; that dark and rugged stag on both sides of your new lambsfoot HHB is superb!
Another shot of Union Jack:
The LamBarJack is still within easy reach, too:
