movies anyone?

If you guys haven't seen "John Carter" yet, it's really good. They really dropped the ball with the marketing campaign though, it's losing tons of money. It's the film version of Edgar Rice Burrough's "A Princess of Mars" if you are a ERB fan.

+1...I don't see why this movie is getting bad reviews.

I like more "intense" movies i guess. as well as comedies.
heres a list of some of my favorites
American History X
Wonderland
Basketball Diaries
Blow
Enter the Void (probably the oddest movie ive ever seen)

I tend to wait for things to hit DVD or Blu-ray now, but the other night the wife and I did enjoy "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park." That's pretty awesome in its awfulness.

For mainstream stuff, I'm also looking forward to "Prometheus" and also "The Avengers."

JohntheTexan has some great movies on that list. I've had "Zardoz" self-inflicted on me enough times that it doesn't hurt anymore. The part with Sean Connery shotputting a girl because she does not respond when he kisses her is good for a lot of laughs. I'll give a list of movies that I really like:

Casablanca
Touch of Evil
Seven Samurai
Rashamon
12 Angry Men
The Wages of Fear
The Wizard of Oz
Das Boot
Amelie
Kwaidan
Cool Hand Luke
Saving Private Ryan
There Will Be Blood
Citizen Kane
The Great Dictator
It's a Wonderful Life
Harvey
Metropolis
M
Rear Window
Grave of the Fireflies
The Seventh Seal

Man, that list starts to get long really fast.

I watched that movie after reading a bit about the characters and storylines of the comics online. Whoever played John Carter failed at portraying the southern charm and class of a Confederate officer. The girl played her character well though. In sort of a corny, Martian babe kind of way.
Plus, it made no sense why Martian gravity only occasionally applies to the upper torso.

"I'm your huckleberry"
Like the motion pics. Lots of good ones already mentioned from Pulp Fiction and ShawShank to StarWar. I like so many movies for various reasons. Find myself throwing Die Hard into the blueray player every Christmas. Good will hunting, Varsity Bules, A time to Kill, Goonies, Casino, Scar Face, My Cousin Vinne, and countless others are all entertaining in one way or another.
I judge the quality of a movie by how many times I have to glance at my watch (to estimate a films conclusion). The more peeks at the time, the less I enjoy the film.
