Off Topic Ninja's kinda legit??

You have to take into consideration that ninja were basically spies of the era so they'd wear what the job required, and if at night black is certainly a good option. Also remember Ninja were kind of an urban legend (although a true one) even then, I'm sure there were no lack of drunken village toughs claiming ninja association when they thought they could get some "street cred" (or perhaps get some panties dropped) ;). Stolen Valor isn't new by any means.
Normal people probably had about as much chance of encountering a ninja as they did a Shogun, and if they did encounter one they'd probably never know-I'm sure a trained professional wouldn't announce he was in town to do a little spying or off some folks via a contract killing.
