I love the Spyderhawk. It's scary, but quite functional. While searching for an image, I found a thread on the spydie forums about it with everyone commenting on how scary it looked. Works for me =)

spyderco chinook

Great knife and design, but not exactly friendly looking (to some).

Doesnt stop me from using it... I have a vic farmer on me as well incase I need a knife in the office.

6) Handle: Full tang with G-20 slabs and staggered, 1/4" wide sharkskin overlays, includes compasses. Handle also houses ( 2 ) awesome death dealing, rear folding blades. Deployed by hidden IR early warning system.

That's too funny! :D

In all fairness, the issue here is not functionality, but how scary a knife looks to other folks. The civilian, eg, has a clear function and is well designed to perform that function, but is wicked looking.

Along these lines, I nominate the CRKT Hissatsu. Clearly a knife designed for fighting, and thus for slashing people. It would be hard to claim in a social situation (or to a judge), that this design of knife was being carried to open packages.

To people who commented on the 'retarded look':

It looks perfectly functional to me, provided you know it’s function. The only thing that makes it look different from knives for gardening or fishing is the recurve.

Come to thing of it, I used to own a gardening knife with a similar blade form.

If you look at it long enough, it looks like a native with a beak.

more EEVILLLE for you perverted vampires of slash.

What, no glass breaker?!

:barf::barf: I'm sorry, but that thing is just disgusting.

Agreed! :barf:

Not my first choice but I think the X2 voyager is on the intimidating side.
I'm sure some people would freak out if you whipped this sucker out in the middle of the post office to open your package.

I love scary knives but damn man, for some reason that spyderco balisong is realy scaring me while I think most of all the others is cool. It almost make me feel ill, it simply beg to cut someone up. :(

Looks like the "retarded" motion didn't really carry after all. :D

The Civilian is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but it does have its purpose. And it definitely is scary and deserves a place on the list.
I think many folks find most of the hawbills and karambits a bit scary.

The CS Rajah seems worthy of a spot too. Dang thing is just so huge and intimidating looking. Of course thats true of a lot of CS's larger blades...which may be part of their point.

Personally, all OTFs scare the heck out of me...the one posted has an ever greater  factor.

As to the Screeching War Eagle of Furious Righteous Vengeance....can a knife really be consided scary if you burst out laughing when you see it?
