Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

This might be OT, but I just got the KSF Allegheny Pocket Sheath, and the Necker 2 is a very good fit for it! I'll try it with a 3.5 this weekend, which is my intended knife for it...

That looks perfect Nils!

I really like Chiral's creation: UKE 2.0 + extras. He made a custom made ferro rod holder for my 5" ferro rod, plus a cap holder. I know that the GSO 10 does not strike a ferro rod, but I have currently accessorized it as such:

That's a nicely set up GSO 10 you have CS!!
Time to whip out the Dremel and give her a ferro notch!

Uhhh Casino..... how to put this..... you can strike a ferro rod with that knife, no problem. Just not with the spine!

Just for you two uber fussy and OCD types, I even aligned the flat head fasteners as much as I could care to (don't have ant LocTite left :( ) and scored the handle / screws a bit, but I don't care because this GSO 10 ain't gonna be about pretty!

Standard, I don't have a Dremel or a Dermal, or any thermal... But I do have plenty of sharp 90 degrees angled strikers more than I have sense :)

Ahh ok. I remember seeing someone that had their scraper screwed to one of the eyelets on the sheath where it could just pivot out for scrapping. The possibilities are endless with such a big sheath.

Wow, you got some of the dark red micarta scales! Those are rare, iirc, I have a set on my GSO-10 as well

A couple things I'd mention just in case you weren't aware:

1) your UKE came with a little kydex bridge and washer - the washer can be used with the screw that goes through the slot on your sheath to further protect the slot from damage, like so:

2) some folk (like me) find it annoying to have the extension not in-line with the handle, so you can kink it over by means of the curved slot on your UKE:

That ferro-rod is something else, heavy

Chiral, not sure if my handle scales are naturally in the red micarta, but when I received the knife the scales were very dull and lackluster so I put a dab of oil on each side and rubbed it in all over. Yesterday, I actually took the handle scales off to look behind them and found some minot. rust spots which I cleaned up with WD40, steel wool and then buffed the steel with some Flitz. Then I reapplied one dab of oil on the scales again before I put them back on and then tried to align the flat head screws too.

Thank you for the tip on that spacer. I will go ahead and put it on now that there's still some daylight left in here :)

Check around, I think yours is only the third or fourth GSO-10 I've seen with scales like those.

Guy has them on his own GSO-10

There's mine

And this one went to Gustav in Zambia according the FB:

When I found out that some folks got these GSO 10s back when for only $195, I thought to myself I hope Guy figured out really fast how much money he was about to lose! I know that they eventually went up to $245, but hot damn! still great deals back in Dec 2013 for some of you. For some reason, I can not correlate a Gustav in Zambia!

Yeah, I bought 3 via the pre-order in the first production run, sold two and won't part with the last. I switched the scales up, but here are the 3 when new:

And the one I kept, "Anne":

God damn. The 10 has to be one of the ugliest knives I have ever seen. They are impressive, kinda like a fat nasty feral pig.

Haha! Yeah, the old school GSO 10 is one ugly beast.

Signed: one proud owner ;)

Is that od green coating?

Yup, was offered on the original run and I would recommend a coating on this large/flat non-stainless blade if you are as irresponsible with your tools as I am :D The coating will certainly wear away, but having not oiled my keeper GSO-10 and letting her sit in a sheath in a humid environment after use resulted in a lot of blemishes. I don't mind the blemishes, they didn't impact performance, but she certainly doesn't have the pristine look one might want to maintain if thinking of re-selling.

Once they get names they're keepers, lol.

I think it was Silver who started a thread on naming knives, which spurred me to call this one "Anne" based on her ruddy 'hair' (scales) and lightly freckled complexion. My wife read me all of the Anne books during the "early" years of our marriage... it'll be ten years this Autumn :)

The Rodent 9 definitely looks cooler imho but I love using that 10  When I'm out harvesting trees or clearing the fence-line, I take along a chainsaw and the 10.
