i just bought a Boker Jim Wagner knife, a well known tacticlol knife, and i have to admit i actually like it a lot. its a decent lockback with a funky blade. ive wanted one for years just out of curiosity but never could bring myself to actually buy one until now.

It's actually a colab. the principles behind it are sound but yeah to anyone who doesn't know it's intended use it looks pretty ridiculous

I agree while it would no doubt cause horrific slashes the true fight stopper is the thrust. Removing the ability to thrust is like neutering the knife

Thanks for exposing me to the term "tacticlol" - it will definitely be replacing "tacticool" in my lexicon.


I'm one of those "I'd rather have a big stick or metal pipe than a knife" people, but if I was going to try to defend myself with a knife, it's be a plain old ka-bar or applegate, not this ridiculous tacticlol nonsense.

Truth is a knife is far more dangerous then a stick or club. Unless you've trained with it a club is all but useless at grappling range. A knife in the hands of even a child is a dangerous thing. Now do I buy into all the tactical crap? Nope. As long as the knife is sturdy, sharp, and has a decent guard it's fine for defense. There are some designs that are going to shine in a combat roll but a lot of it is just hype
