THE BUSSE CHAT THREAD!

Hey I can’t find a picture but can someome tell me what the holy terror knife is ? Punch knife ? Box cutter , pizza cutter ?

I’m genuinely curious since one is up for sale on this site not be me.
It attaches to certain older models to serve as a D guard, but came as a stand alone model that I guess could be a used as a punch knife. 🤔 Or pizza cutter 🙂

Good afternoon all.
Has anyone had any issues with USPS delivering their package to the wrong address and unable to recover the package?
Just curious if you had what avenues were there for a resolution. The USPS has already admitted fault and directed me to their claims department where I have already submitted my claim.
The knife was shipped to me ground with up to $100 insurance. Problem is I paid more than that for the knife and was looking for a glimmer of hope lol. But I fear I am outback after reading other like issues here on the forums.
Thank you for taking the time.

Well, my friend, you are certainly in for a headache. I have a few questions before I can tell you what I think will happen.

Was this purchase made directly from Busse, or was it from a private seller? If private, where was it purchased, and what was the payment method?

To confirm, the package was sent USPS Ground Advantage, not UPS?

When it comes to claims, it is generally the Shipper who files the claim, and it is the Shipper who is sent the financial compensation. The most likely scenario will be that they only cover the $100 insurance claim. I would be in contact with the Shipper, too. If it’s the Mothership, they might be able to work with you. If it’s a private seller, there might not be anything they can/will do. Hopefully, they will be honorable enough to come to some type of resolution. There is always the option of disputing the charges, assuming you did not use PayPal Friends & Family. This is why I personally I sure any knives I ship for more than they are actually worth. That way, if something ever happens, I recover all of my costs + an additional fee for my troubles. Well worth the couple extra dollars for the peace of mind. Best of luck!

Good afternoon Sir. Thank you for your response.
Yes, the package was sent USPS ground advantage and NOT UPS.
I purchased from a private seller here on the forums and have since spoken with him about this issue. The transaction between me and the seller was great. The seller feels bad and asked me to keep him informed and is willing to work something out with me. Though if I am being honest I don’t want him to feel responsible. He covered his end of the deal so to speak. I purchased via PayPal friends and family (I know, I’ve never had an issue before but won’t make the same mistake again), and I didn’t even think to ask that he insure it for the $300 or more.
I am sure the seller will be willing to put the work in to at least get the $100 insurance to me (assuming the USPS will honor it).
Thank you again for taking the time.

I’m glad the seller is willing to work with you. Props to them. To be fair, the Friends & Family isn’t really an issue in this instance. If the seller left you out to dry & you decided to file a claim to get your money back, then it would be a problem. Since you won’t be going after the seller, it matters not. I use it personally, but as I said, I over insure so that both parties will be made whole in such an unfortunate situation. If you don’t mind my asking, what was the knife the government lost for you?

I don’t mind at all.
It was a Magnum Bear Cub.
Have you ever had to claim the insurance? If so what was the procedure?

Never, ever pay F&F, as far as I'm concerned. I'll pay extra to cover the cost to the seller for the merch option.

That stinks! I’ve been wanting one of those.

I haven’t had to file a claim yet. If I had to, the procedure is signing into your USPS account, and filing a claim. They ask for all sorts of info, like tracking, ship date, invoice, etc. Ground Advantage and Priority are automatically insured for $100, so it doesn’t seem like the seller added any extra insurance. I generally avoid shipping high value items with USPS.

A long shot might be to contact the people who the knife was delivered to. There’s a chance they might hand it over. A small chance.

Can’t fault you for that. I only do so with trusted members in good standing. Speaking of, here’s hoping they get the feedback situation sorted quickly.

Agreed. I only use F&F with trusted members.
The feedback system is broken but you can still dive into the individuals messages and transactions from their profile page. You get a really good idea of whether or not they are good to deal with. In my case the seller was good to go.

I am going to go to the post office one more time to see if they will tell me where it was delivered and I will see if I can get it back.
Though I don’t think they know. The carrier doesn’t remember where he delivered it.
Of course there is also the scenario where the mail carrier stole it.

the sellers job is to get it A to B safe and sound, they are on the hook for lost packages and insufficient insurance

theres still the good/bad/ugly thread if you want to warn other members about a bad sale experience.

Also for usps claims, my understanding was the seller needs to do the claim and bring the original receipt.

Good morning.
I agree there should have been sufficient insurance on the package but that’s the hat trick right? What I mean is, it is also my understanding the seller performs the claim and must provide original receipt of purchase proving the value of the contents. How do you do that for something that was purchased new by someone else years ago? In this case it was a knife that was purchased new in 2012, these things are bought and traded so many times the seller could have insured it for a million dollars and (if my understanding is correct, I will find out today), I would still be out of luck.
Not sure what my recourse is here. As far as PayPal from the research I have done, if the item is marked as delivered by the delivery services (in this case it’s USPS), there is nothing they will do either whether or not you did F&F or Goods and Services. I am still in shock to be honest. It hasn’t sunk in yet. Still a bit numb to the idea of it being a wash if you know what I mean.
Thank you for your response, I am still trying to figure out my options if any.
It’s a sad scenario.

Fwiw the tracking says delivered. I am the seller. I've been shipping knives and other crap for decades and this is the first instance of this scenario I've been in. On insufficient insurance - totally my fault and going forward I'll never under-insure a parcel again. I've never paid for extra insurance before this and never had an issue with a missing parcel. Lessons learned...

I plan on being available to the buyer and assisting in any reasonable way I can.

I appreciate the offer for assistance.
I may need some claiming the insurance through USPS. I haven’t heard back from the corporate office since I put in the claims ticket Wednesday.
I’ll let you know for sure.

Hello. I just drunk bid on this and it’s on its way. The seller didn’t know the model. I believe it’s a SAR 5 which I knew works for huge hands and I’ve always loved the design. If I don’t like it when it arrives what is the value of this monstrosity according to Busse.
