Got the donuts install, flattened and drill

Also, when you drill wood, it compresses around the drill bit as the bit cuts. Immediately after you drill it, your pins may fit. Later when you try to fit the pins, the wood has relaxed a bit and they won’t fit.
Run your drill through it a second time and your pins just might fit!

I take a piece of the pin stock that I've turned in a drill and polished with 120 grit paper and use it as a reamer to chase the holes. It essentially sizes the hole perfectly to the pin no matter what side it is.

Making new oil powered metal melting furnace. Successful first fire @ 1000°C for about 1 hour, estimated power about 5-50 kW based on nozzle and blower settings. Someone can say: "I go from 0 to 100 for 5 sec", I can say: "I go from 0 to 1000 for 5 min. and at full power it could be for 2 min." :D

This is a continuation of my first attempt at san mai. It's getting there, need to clean up the lines at the transition between the two steels.
Taking everything back down to complete each part/piece.

2X5 min etch with FeCl, clean well with windex and dawn original.
800 grit sand only the outside layer (the etchant shows the line), once the outside layer is where you want it, coat with cheap, clear fingernail polish. Let dry at least an hour then into coffee etchant. I left in coffee 2 hours.

Finished............. I hope my friend would like it :) Convex edge ......I hate to sharpen knives after I give them .This way when knife dull they can sharpen them by themselves :D:p

That is a nice looking handle. What wood is it?

Finally got back to making knives after several months hiatus due to a move for work. Started it with attempting to heat treat a chef knife I had in progress and everything went smoothly until attempting to remove some warp post heat treat when I snapped it! Dang. Looks like it might turn into a nakiri with a western chef knife style handle haha
