2018 Spyderco Product Guide - Live!

Satin Shaman is currently ~$150 at Knifecenter, with new MAP it will be ~162.50. Full sized Grip with g10 and 20CV (hardly some groundbreaking upgrade over s30v, imo) is currently $178.50. Satin Benchmade 808 with s30v is $204. Clearly the Shaman is waaay overpriced???

I have no clue what you guys are on about. I don't own any of them, but out of those three the Shaman is the least expensive and the most attractive knife to me by a lot.

20cv does require a higher price and is considered a more premium steel at this time. You're assuming that there won't be a price increase on the current Shaman pricing. DLC is never that much more than Satin so they have to move the price up more than that. But I'm assuming as well.

I'm not trying to argue with you or anyone else; just discussion. Value is in the eye of the beholder.

The pre order link posted earlier has the 2018 pricing. The dlc coated shaman is $300 MSRP and $195 MAP. The PM2 has a $20 difference in MSRP between dlc and satin blades so I'm assuming that will be the case with the shaman making the 2018 price $280 MSRP and $182 MAP.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just pointing out the price because I think right now it is a great value but that may change.

Thanks, I did miss the MSRP difference on the the DLC version. Seems like they're all still in the same ballpark to me though.

And yes, 20CV is considered a more premium steel than s30v by most, but I guess I'm more skeptical than most on what the true performance and cost differences associated with different steels are. For my uses, it hardly matters at that level (i.e., both are 4% Vanadium PM steels). Ymmv.

This dropped with a dull thump for me.

Native Salt- cool but the S110v FRN model is practically a salt already. I have taken mine in the Gulf for days on end and it didn’t rust.

Waterways- Good for Lance! I won’t buy one but it’s cool to see a long time fellow member and enthusiast have a concept put into reality.

V Toku 2- not sure what the story one this is yet, very low alloy steel from composition, have to learn more.

DLC Shaman - buying one

I’m hoping they will have an FRN flipper at some point in the near future.

It's the same as super blue iirc but instead of Japanese ore it uses Swedish ore.

I get what you're saying. Both of the knives that I pocket daily are S30v and I don't have any real complaints. But if you offer me the same model of knife one in 20cv and one in s30v for similar prices I'll go ahead and get the 20cv. Not because I feel s30v is inferior but based on the market 20cv is the better value.

For sure, on the same model at similar prices I'd probably go for the 20CV as well, for variety as much as anything else, but the difference isn't going to sway me away from the model I'd otherwise prefer.

Kind of on that theme, earlier this year I snagged a gray Cruwear PM2 sprint, but immediately sold it when the lefty model was announced. I knew model would trump steel for me once it was released.

20CV is definitely a significant step up over S30. The price comparison between the G10 20CV Griptillian and the S30V Shaman is instructive indeed.

The value equation appears to be flattening out or even tilting between competitors.

New sprint run Stretch, Spyderhawk, and the Rhino! So far things are looking good for 2018!

I'm a little surprised the Respect is getting more chatter.

The Waterway is also very intriguing.

I just hope there will be enough spyderhawks to go around. The respect looks like an authentic bagwell Bowie, very nice. Native salt is a no brainer.

if i won the lottery these are all the models id get from just this product guide. (i still want more like the maxamet pm2 and more, but they were not listed in this guide)
