Whacha Been Up To......

I'm keeping busy.... Or, more from the fun with scraps file....
First the axe collar that I mentioned in the neatsfoot oil thread.

Then I made a prototype case for my fishing pliers and hook remover

There's a lot of extra width around the pliers, I'm hoping that will keep the hook remover from catching on stuff.
We shall see come the fall run.

And finally a collar for my daughter's doggie's birthday.

I have to wait a month to give it to her.... but it was a fun project.
All the sewing was done with a chisel, diamond awl and needles.
Used my hobby vise for a stitching pony :)

Really cool work my friend. Nicely done. Those dog collars are a hair trickier than they would seem ain't they?

Big push for a show. All ready and ya kinda start letting down. I'm sewing up a few last holsters:

Heck I'm always test driving:

Then I hear the angry hornets nest of liftoff. Nichole is flying the drone around the shop:

Any other day that might seem strange....... See what happens when ya let people play at your cutting table:

Heck the rotor wash blew those holster parts right off the table.

Here's a new Bighorn design I kinda like:19-29 4.JPG 19-29 1.JPG
Good from far, but far from good!:Dlike we used to say in the days long gone by.

"Those dog collars are a hair trickier than they would seem ain't they?"

Yeah, I had to do a little research :)
Fortunately I snuck off with the little guy's existing collar while he was getting a bath, so I could measure it.

He's convinced that he's 90lbs and tall....

Yeah not just a belt.

Turquoise and grey have alway's been two of my wife Nichole's favorite colors:

Last couple of days she finally talked me into building a grey water buffalo pancake sheath to go with her belt. So I did. I had to use her smaller 138 size thread on my machine but it worked fine by going to a smaller needle. The turquoise thread I have in 207 size isn't the right color. She even replaced the string on her knife with the grey water buffalo.

Very nice color combo! What’s the handle material on her knife? Do you dye it yourself or purchase it that color?

Its what is called stag carved jigged bone. This color is called Pacific Blue. It comes dyed already. I get all my bone handle materials from Culpepper.

Made myself another pocket sheath. I pretty much only carry my small 6.5-7” fixed blades nowadays or my umnumzaan If I want a folder, and this has been my preferred sheath/carry method. With a lanyard on its the only thing showing out of my pocket and makes it easy to grab and hidden well. I don’t need to worry about everybody knowing I carry a fixed blade in West Texas, and my field of work as a wildlife biologist lends me to need a fixed blade most of the time. But some of the more higher populated areas I have to go for conferences/meetings sometimes care. Like Austin and Houston specifically

Here’s all that shows out of my pocket, and the lanyard gives me a nice easy way to access the knife.

Nice work on the sheath. That knife has a very nice look to it.

Made myself a buckskin dyed sheath over the past couple days. I finished it last night and it came out looking great and the dye ended up becoming a favorite if I’m not going natural.

Then I learned the hard way to be extremely careful putting a chisel ground edge into a sheath that’s still a lil “rigid” and not broken in yet. So glad I didn’t send the blade into my hand but sucks seeing a good sheath get cut. I may make myself a new one or I may not. But the knife is now properly in and the blade is unexposed so it’s safe just have to be careful sheathing it until I decide if I’m gonna keep it.

“Ty_Higg”

That came out really nice ! Nice work !!

For breaking in sheaths I use new paint mix sticks and wood clothes pins pieces. This way the sheath can sit with them in it. Kinda like using shoe horns.

I've never added medallions before, and finally figured how to cut a cross strap at the correct angle, this was pretty challenging for me (which I like). The knife's frame style handle isn't epoxied yet.wip6.JPG
