I’m finishing up this 3v chopper today. Hardness is 60.Just have to sand the perimeter of the tang, blend into the handle, buff, and make a sheath.

Just rough ground to 120 before heat treat, but couldn’t resist getting a sneak peak at the pattern on my first attempt at damascus. This was only 16 layers (8 layers with one restack), and I lost quite a few of those layers grinding down, but hey pattern! This is also the first blade ground with my new disc grinder. It was ground 100% on the disc, and I’m pretty happy with it compared to my little 1x42. The “tracking” is a lot better :p

I figured this would be a good place to introduce myself. I am a hobbyist knifemaker and i've been making knives for a few months now.

I primarily forge a blank out and then do final shaping on my cheap as heck 4x36" belt sander. My first knife was forged out of an allenkey (hence my name) and it totally sucked haha. I didn't understand heat treating or anything.

To bring you up to speed here is my latest knife. I forged the blank out from a Volvo's suspension coil spring. The handle scales are butternut finished with linseed oil and a satin polyurethane. This is the first knife I managed to get sharp enough to shave hair off my arm so I'm pretty proud of it.

Knife #6 for me ☺

Been working on a batch of s110V and M390/20CV blades. Decided to try my hand at making a Karambit. Got it profiled and rough ground ready for hand sanding prior to heat treat. This one is .210 S110V. I wanted to make a K-bit that was more useful as a utility knife. Decided on a modified sheepsfoot/wharncliffe design.
