Benchmade and their choices as a company

Why wouldn't people express their political views? It would be hard to have rational discourse about things if we all keep our thoughts to ourselves, no?

Forgive them for they know not what they do. They are the Left flank that wants to "transform" America into a disarmed socialist society. Repel them at all costs for they are the enemy within.

Inflammatory rhetoric? Perhaps, but it is the truth. History confirms it.

Because political discussion is restricted to the Political Arena on this forum. :)

Considering these discussions began in the Benchmade Forum and has been instigated by the actions of Benchmade itself, that is quite a dilemma, isn't it? Life isn't black and white.

Yes, but where is the line. In a discussion of Benchmade I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone to express that they dislike Benchmade as a result of their political positions. Saying "I won't buy Benchmade because they're anti-gun" is hardly a political debate.

Revealing your political position and engaging in off-topic argument are totally different things.

I mean, what's the alternative? Should folks post "I won't buy Benchmade now because <REDACTED>"? Seems pretty silly . . .

But posting lists of their political donations with commentary? Seems unquestionably political to me. Either way, mods will decide. I'm mostly just laughing.

Sure, I'm not saying every post has stayed on the right side of the line. That said, if the mods punished someone for the basic sort of "I won't buy Benchmade now because they're anti-gun" I think that's pretty silly.

I mean, it's pretty much not possible to discuss what Benchmade has bumbled into without a hint of that sort of thing, no? Otherwise why would it matter that Benchmade has made the galactically-stupid decision to anger what is very likely a large portion of their target market?

I don't care if the politician is a D or R. The fact that they are Anti-2A is a real issue. Especially when Benchmade makes a statement that they are supporters of the 2A.

...so are you saying it isn't political because all you care about is their stance on that one, incredibly political issue? I'm not really following that logic, honestly.

Benchmade is making it political by saying they support the 2A.

With all the attacks on the 2nd amendment in this country, this was stupid on their part!! The 2nd amendment is being hit on all fronts right now, I’ll look into this just a little more, but they may lose my support from now on, for a simple mistake!

Who would have thought that a company agreeing to help their local police fulfill court-mandated orders is anti-2nd amendment...

Those guns cannot be sold, nor were they taken unlawfully. There is no option to keep them around, and more are being made every day in the US for those of us who legally can possess them. I'd bet other large knife companies would have done the same, if asked. I give props to Benchmade for helping police out where needed.

Benchmade is a KNIFE MANUFACTURER that sets up a booth at the NRA show, makes and heavily promotes a line of knives called HUNT, makes a Black Class line of knives targeted to law enforcement, military, and first responders, has a standing discount for those same people, and volunteers services to their local police department -and people on the internet are seriously calling into question their politics around guns and knives? Is this the Twilight Zone?
Furthermore, if you have to dig into weird dark web internet sites to find somebody’s political leaning, that person surely isn’t forcing their beliefs down anybody else’s throats.
I was just up in Oregon a few weeks ago at a [great] sporting goods store buying tannerite to blow up in the woods with my buddy’s .30-06 and the guy letting me handle Glocks while we waited went on a ludicrous tangent about how he wanted his state representative to catch on fire and die in a plane crash screaming for being a “communist.” Did I still buy the tannerite and a beer koozy? Yes. Did I hang around extra to hear him tell me the world is flat? No.

Give me a break.

They could have refused, the police in Oregon are a weird bunch anyway. Police state comes to mind!!
